Canfield Scholarships, 95 Chancellor's Leadership Class Scholarships and 58 Pepsi Scholarships for Outstanding Volunteer Service and Leadership. The total potential value of the scholarships is nearly $11.8 million. The award is the highest non-academic honor Dana gives.

Christensen is a 1953 graduate of Dana College. Originally from Minden, he has taught, counseled and coached for many, schools. In 1960, he received his masters degree in counseling from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. In the early 80s, he worked at Dana as an assistant director of admissions and financial aid director. For the last 19 years, Christensen has been the owner and operator ofVaughn Christensen Specialty Advertising in Blair.

Besides Dana, Christensen gives greatly of his time and money to several Blair organizations including First Lutheran Church, Lions Club, Washington County Recycling Center, Blair Area Chamber of Commerce, Blair High School, Washing- ton County Food Pantry, Blair Rescue Squad, Blair Fire Depart-ment, Boy Scouts and the Red Cross. Wesleyan inducts Blue Key members Quentin Stenger of Colon was one of 21 Nebraska Wesleyan University students to be inducted into Blue Key, a national honor society for men. Juniors and seniors are selected for induction based on their achievements in extracurricular activities, leadership, and service to their communities. Candidates must also rank in the upper 35 percent of their class. Goreham makes 1WCC list Iowa Western Community College officials announced that approximately 480 students have been named to the Presi- dents Honor Roll due to their academic achievement during the 2004 spring term.

Students named to the Presidents Honor Roll must be carry-: ing at least 12 academic credit hours and attain a grade point average of at least 3.5 on a scale of 4.0. Fremont resident Kylie A. Goreham, human resource management, was named to the Presidents Honor Roll. Fremonters graduate from Kansas The names of more than 4,000 candidates for degrees at the University of Kansas this spring have been announced by the KU registrar. KlTs Class of 2004 numbers more than 6,400, including more than 2,000 who completed degree work last summer and fall.

Area students make Mount Marty list Kim Petersen ofWest Point and Melissa Fullner of Wisner have been named to the spring 2004 deans list at Mount Marty College. To be eligible, students must have carried a full-time schedule of at least 12 hours and have earned 3 ,5 grade point average. Fullner achieved a 4.6 grade point average. Kreikenteier graduates, makes list Melanie K. Kreikemeier of Fremont has received a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo.

She graduated magna cum laude. Kreikemeier also has been named to the spring 2004 semester deans list at Rockhurst. This honor recognizes students who have achieved a grade-point-average of 3.5 or above. Dana announces spring dean list Dana College in Blair has released its deans list for the spring 2004 semester. In order to be eligible, students must be enrolled as full-time students, have a minimum grade point average of 3.7 for the semesters and have no grade of or below.

Presidents Leadership Scholarships were awarded to Britney Strand, Logan View High School, and Katie Wul Blair High School. Presidents Scholarships are valued at $5,000 annually. They are awarded based on academic merit, personal development, community service and commitment to campus leadership. Hailey Joslin, Blair High School, was awarded a $5,000 Carolyn Scott Scholarship. Also awarded were Horizon, Achievement and Merit scholarships.

University of Nebraska-Keamey The University of Nebraska at Kearney has announced the Chancellor's and Dean's Scholarship recipients for the freshman class of 2004-2005.

According to Mary Sommers, director of FinanciM Aid, the recipients receive a total award of $3,000, renewable for up to four years. The total value of this award is $12,000. Scholarships are awarded to students who have at least a 26 composite on the ACT and are ranked in the top 25 percent of their high school graduating class. Recipients included: Blair: Kyle Smith. Fremont: Nicole Dick meyer.

Howells: Kelsey Vacha. Wahoo: Andy Wesely. University of Nebraska-Keamey The University of Nebraska at Kearney has announced the Chancellor'sMerit Scholar Award recipients for 2003-2004. According to Mary Sommers, UNK director of Financial Aid, these students are receiving the Chancellor's Scholarship for $2,000 per year and the Merit Scholar Awards of $750 per year. Both awards are renewable for up to four years, with a total dollar value of $11,000.

To receive the award, recipients must have at least a 23 ACT composite score and have a class rank in the top 30 percent of their high school graduating class.
