He farmed in that area until moving to Colon in 1960 where he farmed until his retirement in 1974. He remained active working for local farmers until 1988 and had continued to be involved with the Fremont Senior Center. He married Elsie E. Abbott bn Jan. 15, 1929, in Shenandoah Iowa.

She died April 29, 1992. Survivors include: a daughter, Lois Elliot (and husband, Tom) of Fremont; a granddaughter, Andrea Haar (and husband, Doug) of Castle Rock, a grandson, Alan Brewer (and wife, Beth) of Fremont; nine great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and a great-great-great-grandchild. He also was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters and a great-great-grandchild. The Rev. Leland Foreman will officiate Saturdays service.

There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. 1 A memorial has been established to the Fremont Senior-Adult Center. Paid. Hooper car show Adolph Saalfeld Adolph Saalfeld, 84, of Schuyler died Sunday, July 1, 2007, at Golden living Center in Schuyler.

I i He was bom Feb. 15, 1923, near Richland to Adolph and Edna (Wilch) Saalfeld. He attended school in Richland. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1943 to 1949.

After he left the service, he returned to the Schuyler area where he worked construction. He married Lillian Dworak on April 17, 1952, at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Clarkson. They lived in Lincoln for a few years before returning to Schuyler. In 1958, he formed a partnership with Lloyd Svatora and they did construction as Saalfeld and Svatora.

They built many homes in the Schuyler area. He retired in 1985. He was a member of St Marys Catholic Church, American Legion and Schuyler Golf Club. Survivors include: his wife; seven children, Gwen (and husband, Bill) Wonch of Stapleton, Frank (and wife, Sharyl) Saalfeld of Plains, Monk, Don (and wife, Theresa) Saalfeld of David City, Joyce (and husband, Larry) Guenther of Columbus, Theresa (and husband, Robin) Roth of Valentine, Jeff (and wife, Yvonne) Saalfeld of Omaha and Paula (and husband, Gene) Brichacek of Schuyler, 17 grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, three brothers and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sk Marys Catholic Churdrin Schuyler with the Rev. Gerald Leise officiating. Visitation will be until 5:30 p.m. today at Svoboda Funeral Home North Chapel in Schuyler and from p.m.

at the church with a 7:30 p.m. parish rosary. Visitation will resume from a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Schuyler Cemetery with military honors by McLeod Post 47 of the American Legion and Hespen-Mitchell Post 4836 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Joseph Wiles 1 Joseph N. Wiles, 69, of Lyons died Monday, July 2, 2007, at Oakland Mercy Hospital He was bom April 18, 1938, in Omaha to Jack E. and Pauline E. (Mettler) Wiles. He spent his childhood living in Omaha until 1946, when he moved to Greenwood.

He lived in Greenwood until he entered the U.S. Army in 1956. He was honorably discharged in 1959. He married Eleanor Borland. Upon his return from the service, he worked as an iron worker along with his father, and owned and operated a Conoco gas station, where he was known as es Conoco Joe.

He then worked as a mechanic for many years until 1980. After meeting Kay, he left the world of mechanics and became an over-the-road truck driver. He married Kay Swanson on May 15, 1983, in Las Vegas. His truck driving days continued until the time of his death. He was proud of his 31 years of sobriety.

Survivors include: his wife, Kay of Lyons; three children, Ramona Cooper of Columbus, Kent Wiles (and wife, Sandy) of Hooper and Rhonda Cosby of Arvada, a brother, Don Butch Wiles of Greenwood; two sisters, Jacque Fisher of Lincoln and Janice Lannom of Chestnut Mound, nine grandchildren and a great-grandson. Ted Lesiak, 40, of Fremont died Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at lYemont Area Medical Center.

He was bom Sepk 22, 1966, in Columbus. He grew up in Columbus. He served in the Army National Guard from 1984 to 1986. He worked at Excell Packing in Schuyler from 1986 to 1993 and then for Model Electric in Norfolk from 1994 to 1998 while living in Battle Creek. He then moved to Fremont and worked for International Brotherhood of Electric Workers.

He married Jennifer M. Chamberlain on July 11, 1992, in Fremonk He was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church in Fremonk Pheasants Forever National Rifle Association and Local 22, IBEW. Survivors include: his wife; two sons, Terry Lesiak (and special, friend, Tiffany Prososki) and Tony Lesiak (and special friend, Diana Clendenen), all of Schuyler; two daughters, Tasha and Micaela Lesiak, both of Fremont; his father, Clifford Lesiak of Grand Island; his mother and stepfather, Micfraele and Tom Krumbach of Columbus; grandmother, Dorothy Cole of Columbus; three brothers, Harlan and Clapce Lesiak, both of Columbus, and Clifford Lesiak of Omaha; a sister, Shawn (and husband, Ron) Fyfe of St. Edward; parents-in-law, Theodore Ted and Charlotte Chaudie Chamberlain of Fremont; and three grandchildren.
