Tuesday. Glenn Bales Glenn L. Bales, 67, of Omaha, died Friday, July 9, 1993, as a result of an accident that day, when a semi-trailer truck collided with the train he was on near U.S. Highway 30 and Somers Avenue in Fremont. Bales was bom Aug.

21, 1925, in Bonillia, S.D. He lived in the Omaha area since 1946. He served with the U.S. Navy from June 1943 to August 1946 in the Asiatic Pacific during World War EL He served at Marshall Islands and received the Good Conduct Medal. He started working for Burlington Northern Railroad as a fireman and became an engineer during the steam engine era.

He worked with the railroad for 40 years before retiring. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8334 of Millard, member of Railroad Station Historical Society, National Railway Historical Society and Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He was a longtime volunteer conductor and engineer with the Fremont Elkhom Valley Railroad in Fremont and was instrumental starting that railroad. The railroad began running in May 1986. Bales married Violet Cederholm June 19, 1949.

She survives. Other survivors include a son, Ronald Bales of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a daughter, Joy Bales-Courte of Elkhom; and seven brothers. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Crosby-Kunold-Burket-Swanson-Golden Mortuary Chapel in Omaha.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 tonight at the mortuary chapel. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery at Omaha. To have your name published in the newspaper ask for a release form when admitted to hospital. Naples below may not represent all admissions dismissals or births. Admissions None.

Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. Gaspers died Saturday, July 10, 1993, at Arbor Manor in Fremont. Emma Weidner was bom Feb. 16, 1915, at St. Bernard.

She graduated from Holy Family High School in 1934. She lived in Lindsay until 1958, when she moved to Columbus. She was a homemaker and worked for Becton-Dickinson in Columbus until retiring in 1979. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, church circles, Block Rosary, Legion of Mary, Becton-Dickinson Alumni Association and Behlen Manufacturing Auxiliary.

Weidner married Harry Gaspers April 28, 1936, in Lindsay. He I died Jan. 28, 1972. Survivors include a son, David of Columbus; three daughters, Carolyn Kingston of Fremont, Patricia Barrett of Long Beach, and Emily Amaral of Manhattan Beach, a brother, Marcy of Columbus; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, five brothers and a grandson.

Burial was at the church cemetery in Columbus. McKown Funeral Home in Columbus was in charge of arrangements. A memorial has been established to Parkinsons Disease Foundation. Lydia Strehlow The funeral for Lydia A. Strehlow, 98, of Fremont will be 10:30 a.m.

Wednesday at Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel. Strehlow died Sunday, July 11, 1993, at Arbor Manor in Fremont. She was bom Nov. 13, 1894, in Culbertson. She lived at Hampton and Creston before moving to Fremont in 1917 with her parents.

Strehlow was a member of First Baptist Church in Fremont for more than 75 years. She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother. The Rev. Lcland Foreman will officiate Wednesdays service. Visitation will be 1 to 9 today at the mortuary.

Burial will be at Ridge Municipal Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the church. Pearl Wilkinson Pearl Wilkinson, 82, of Fremont died Monday, July 12, 1993, at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County. Funeral arrangements arc pending at Rozanck and Son Colonial Chapel in Fremont.
